About Girl Scouts of Louisiana – Pines to the Gulf
We are a chartered council with Girl Scouts of the USA, supporting nearly 6,000 girls in partnership with close to 2,000 volunteers in 42 parishes in Louisiana west of the Mississippi River through council-sponsored girl program and activities, local resources and support, and adult learning opportunities. The headquarters is in Lafayette as well as locations in Alexandria, Lake Charles, Monroe and Shreveport.
Our extraordinary journey began more than 100 years ago with the original G.I.R.L., (Go-Getter, Innovator, Risk Taker, and Leader)Juliette Gordon "Daisy" Low. On March 12, 1912, in Savannah, Georgia, she organized the very first Girl Scout troop, and every year since, we've honored her vision and legacy, building girls of courage, confidence, and character who make the world a better place.
Girl Scouts is a premier leadership experience that has been around for a decade. Leadership isn't just about a title or position, it's about action; it's about compassion; it's about community. We strive to provide our girls with a girl-led, all girl environment complete with adult role models who help to the program come alive for our girls.
